Warranty on your bicycle

Cortego guarantees that the delivered product complies with the concluded agreement, the specifications stated in the offer, the reasonable requirements of soundness and/or usability and the legal provisions and/or government regulations in force on the date the agreement is concluded.

In general, you have a 1-year warranty on all moving parts and a 2-year warranty on the frame. Parts subject to wear and tear, such as tires, chain, chainrings, freewheel, rear sprockets, cables, and brake pads, are not covered by the warranty, unless there are construction and/or material defects. Damage resulting from improper use and falls is not covered by the warranty.

To maintain the warranty on your bicycle, you must have performed your first maintenance service within six months. When submitting a warranty claim, you must provide proof of maintenance (invoice and/or work order). If warranty processing is possible by mail, you will be responsible for the postage costs.

If there's anything wrong with your product, please always contact us first. We'll work with you to determine how to handle your complaint as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Please note: Cortego never reimburses third-party repair costs.

Warranty conditions

Once you've ordered your bike and received it, we're happy to help. In fact, we're happy to help you if anything goes wrong in the future. We do ask a small fee in return, as it's crucial to keep your bike's maintenance up to date to maintain the warranty.

What is mandatory and why?
The first service is required between the 4th and 6th month after receiving your bike, or after 500 km. The first occurrence always applies. So, if your bike is 6 months old but you've only ridden 200 km, you still need to have the first service. While we can't force this, we do require it to maintain the warranty. A bike really needs its first service, even if you don't ride it much. This prevents premature wear and keeps your bike riding smoothly!

Maintenance services

Why is bicycle maintenance important?
Wear and tear is kept to a minimum and your parts remain in good condition.
This way the warranty lasts longer.
Think of it like a car: an MOT once a year and a service at regular intervals.
Drive longer without problems.

Where is the best place to go?
For maintenance you can always go to a local bicycle mechanic.

First service
The first service should be performed approximately after 500 km and within six months of purchase. It's common for the gear cables to stretch slightly, resulting in slightly poorer shifting, or for the spokes to loosen slightly, causing the wheel to lose tension. It's also a good idea to check all screws and bolts to ensure they're still tight. Any gears and brakes can then be adjusted for optimal performance.

Annual maintenance
After the initial service, annual maintenance is also absolutely essential to ensure long-lasting enjoyment of your bike. Your bike is used in all weather conditions, and that causes wear and tear. Regular maintenance can minimize this wear and tear and prevent unpleasant surprises.

What can you do yourself?

• For all bicycles, check the tire pressure regularly. Properly inflated tires help maintain the wheels.
Clean your bike with soapy water; don't use a pressure washer, for example. The high pressure can quickly spray grease from moving parts.
• Regularly check all nuts and bolts on your bike and tighten them if necessary. Vibrations can cause them to loosen.
• Does your bike have an open chain guard? Then lubricate the chain regularly with chain oil.
• The lock on your bicycle also needs maintenance. To keep it running smoothly, spray it regularly with lock spray.
